Blind Spots

1 Corinthians 9:26-27
New King James Version (NKJV)
26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

A blind spot is an area where a person's view is obstructed.

This is usually understood when operating a vehicle, we realize that there are spots on the road where our vision is hindered...it's to our advantage and common sense not to make any decisions moving the car when the blind spot is at work.

Not only is this true in a vehicle, it's true in our lives as Christians...there are vulnerable areas of life and if we are not careful...we can fall prey to said blind spots...

Matthew 7:3-4
New King James Version (NKJV)
3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?

This is an illustration that Jesus decided to use because it covers 2 bases at once:
One, it deals with relationship and two, it deals with Vision.

What is amazing about this story is > the problem is so obvious to everyone else, but the people w/the problem.  Jesus uses the eyes, and it’s interesting to me that if you know human nature…just a tiny speck in your eye would drive you crazy!!  How many wear contacts…get a hair in there?
Yet, in this scripture…they are oblivious.

We can blind to our own faults…but we immediately see flaws in others and it drives you mad…why? IT’S YOUR FLAW

Example:
Gossips are extremely sensitive if they feel that others are gossiping about them
Racists filter all of life through their prejudice
People with the softest feelings can be the rudest and most insensitive
These are blind spots in our Christian walk and character…
The people with the largest problems seem to be the most critical

Verse 42 – ‘First, get the beam out of your own eye, then you can see clearly to help your brother/sister’

If we are going to be ministry material…we must be able to honestly deal w/our own shortcomings…how do you react when your blind spots are uncovered?
Do yourself a favor – don’t despise the conviction of the Holy Spirit!

Ephesians 4:29-30
New King James Version (NKJV)
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

We grieve the Holy Ghost when we resist Him! That’s why you don’t come to the altar…for whatever reason…you feel if you do come to the altar, then you've surrendered…THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO DO!!

The Power of God

Hebrews 12: 29 - 'Our God is a consuming fire...'  I thank my God that we were able to witness this momentous occasion. My brother (Casi), and my sister (Veronica), tied the knot this morning! What a beautiful story of integrity, fidelity, and prayerful persistence! According to testimony...Veronica received a word from Pastor Dillard October 2014 that her prayers would be answered and the one she has been praying for would be by her side not too long from now...this has actually come true!! Through fasting, prayer, counseling and perseverance...that prayer was answered in a big way! Casi, a man of the penal system, made some serious decisions to turn his life around and give Jesus his life. This took a lot of soul - searching, and a lot of humility; usually a man of great pride and arrogance, now had to come to grips with the truth that he was in desperate need of the blood of Jesus. His love for Veronica had surfaced, but her commitment to Christ through him for a loop...

Pain

I finally got a chance to speak with pain; I had a lot of questions for pain to answer hopefully. The first question was obvious – Who asked you to come here? No answer Why do you afflict my life? Still no answer Then I realized I was asking the wrong questions, so I shouted out: Who do you think you are? Pain turned around and finally answered, ‘O just a friend.’ Well you’re no friend of mine! At this, pain started laughing hysterically then said, ‘I remind you of your frailty, your capabilities and your nature, without me you would start thinking that you’re perfect; or even God Himself! I thought about what pain said, then he rose up and asked me…’ Can I go now? I have work to do’ So I asked pain, where are you going? He replied, not very far, I’m still working in this house . I begged pain to leave…he said, “I can leave but there’s a problem.” What’s that? He answered, if I leave, you would have no motivation to seek God. With that, pain turned and walked away – ...

Need of Ministry

1 Samuel 3:1-14  3 Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation. 2 And it came to pass at that time, while Eli was lying down in his place, and when his eyes had begun to grow so dim that he could not see, 3 and before the lamp of God went out in the tabernacle of the Lord where the ark of God was, and while Samuel was lying down, 4 that the Lord called Samuel. And he answered, “Here I am!” 5 So he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” And he said, “I did not call; lie down again.” And he went and lay down. 6 Then the Lord called yet again, “Samuel!” So Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” He answered, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.” 7 (Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor was the word of the Lord yet revealed to him.) 8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. So he arose and went to Eli, and said, “H...
