Self - Sufficient

Matt. 25: 1 - 13, 'The Kingdom of heaven shall be likened to 10 virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now 5 of them were wise, the other 5 were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. At midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet Him!' Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, NO, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with Him to the wedding; and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also saying, 'Lord, open to us!' But He answered, 'Assuredly, I say to

Take him out

Judges 1: 28 - 'And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites under tribute, but they did not completely drive them out...' You must consider with me, the Children of Israel were probably feeling good about themselves at this point. They escaped the hands of the Egyptians, in dramatic fashion...they survived the wilderness and God blessed them incredibly through that; then, they cross the Red Sea, the Jordan, and literally destroy every enemy they encountered up until Joshua's death...that's impressive. However, with great victory comes great responsibility - they were too confident in themselves instead of God and they allowed the enemy to hang around longer than they should; this eventually became their own undoing, the same is true for you and me. I'm here to tell you that you shouldn't negotiate with the enemy, you should TAKE HIM OUT! The many problems the Israelites ran into is found in chapter 2 of Judges...God said for

Capture Success

1st Cor. 11: 1-2 Follow me as I follow Christ. Now I praise you, brothers, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you. 'Phil Jackson is arguably the greatest athletic coach of all time, having won eleven NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. Jackson has also been a respected mentor for two of the greatest basketball players ever in Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant and he currently holds the record for highest winning percentage as a coach.  He is more philosopher, spiritual seeker, and scholar than he is a sports-minded tactician, although he is tremendously athletic on a physical and mental level in his own right and won two NBA championships as a player.  At face value, this well-known depiction of Jackson is undoubtedly fascinating; however, it does not explain the exact mechanisms behind his tremendous success and outstanding leadership ability. Rather than explore what Jackson knows and try to copy or emulate

JOB 1:6-12 NEW KING JAMES VERSION (NKJV) SATAN ATTACKS JOB’S CHARACTER 6 NOW THERE WAS A DAY WHEN THE SONS OF GOD CAME TO PRESENT THEMSELVES BEFORE THE LORD, AND SATAN[A] ALSO CAME AMONG THEM. 7 AND THE LORD SAID TO SATAN, “FROM WHERE DO YOU COME?” SO SATAN ANSWERED THE LORD AND SAID, “FROM GOING TO AND FRO ON THE EARTH, AND FROM WALKING BACK AND FORTH ON IT.” 8 THEN THE LORD SAID TO SATAN, “HAVE YOU CONSIDERED MY SERVANT JOB, THAT THERE IS NONE LIKE HIM ON THE EARTH, A BLAMELESS AND UPRIGHT MAN, ONE WHO FEARS GOD AND SHUNS EVIL?” 9 SO SATAN ANSWERED THE LORD AND SAID, “DOES JOB FEAR GOD FOR NOTHING? 10 HAVE YOU NOT MADE A HEDGE AROUND HIM, AROUND HIS HOUSEHOLD, AND AROUND ALL THAT HE HAS ON EVERY SIDE? YOU HAVE BLESSED THE WORK OF HIS HANDS, AND HIS POSSESSIONS HAVE INCREASED IN THE LAND. 11 BUT NOW, STRETCH OUT YOUR HAND AND TOUCH ALL THAT HE HAS, AND HE WILL SURELY CURSE YOU TO YOUR FACE!” 12 AND THE LORD SAID TO SATAN, “BEHOLD, ALL THAT HE HAS IS IN YOUR POWER; ONLY DO NOT L

Allegiance to the Cross

Gal. 2: 20 - 'I have been crucified with Christ;it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.' John Adams, 1776: "Before God, I believe the hour has come. My judgment approves this measure, and my whole heart is in it. All that I have, all that I am, and all that I hope in this life, I am now ready here to stake upon it. And I leave off as I began, that live or die, survive or perish, I am for the Declaration. It is my living sentiment, and by the blessing of God it shall be my dying sentiment. Independence now, Independence forever!" From a heart of passion into the history books, we hear and witness the declaration of our freedom, hence our great nation - the United States of America. That same passion about our country should be no match for the passion we have for the Cross! The men who took a stand and signed the Declaration of I

3 Years Running

Luke 13:6-9 6 He also spoke this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 7 Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ 8 But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9 And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.’” This scripture is very personal because it speaks of a Christian who has served God for a length of time, yet has nothing to show for it. Remember, God is always challenging you and I to produce fruit.  In fact, this was among the first things God ever commanded mankind: Genesis 1:28 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing tha
